New City Requirements May Have An Affect on Workers’ Status

Would your benefits be affected in the state of Georgia?  Under amended Georgia law 50-36-1 during the 2009 legislative session, city governments must verify whether a person is legally in the United States in the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements Program or SAVE before receiving benefits. Beginning Jan. 1, 2010, verification will be required for employee benefits, disability benefits and those seeking commercial/professional licenses.
