Wes Garnett, President/CEO
W. Garnett & Associates was founded by Wes Garnett, innovative thinker and leader in Human Capital Management.
Wes began his career in the hospitality industry with Steak & Ale Restaurant Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA after receiving his Bachelors of Science & Masters of Education from Utah State University and his Pre-Doctorial program from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979.
Starting out in operations as a Restaurant Trainee, Wes spent several years gaining experience, through which he eventually became Director of Management Recruiting. In this position he supervised both the recruiting and training departments for the Steak & Ale concept.
Wes has held Human Resource positions with such prominent companies as the Burger King Corporation, Dell Computer Corporation, Black-eyed Pea Restaurants, and Taco John’s International, Buca, Inc. as well as Red Robin Gourmet Burger, a publicly traded casual dining restaurant company with over 400 restaurant locations and over 30,000 employees nationwide, where he served as Vice President, Team Member Resources.
He has also served as Senior Vice President, Family Resources for Buca, Inc., a publicly held, casual dining Italian restaurant concept with over 115 restaurants nationwide, headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Wes has served as Adjunct Professor at Johnson & Wales University, Denver Campus, and is involved with such organizations as the Multicultural Food service and Hospitality Alliance, Women’s Food Service Forum, American Beverage Institute, and the Purdue University Strategic Alliance Council.
Ron Porter, Senior Associate
Ron Porter has joined the team of W. Garnett & Associates as a Senior Executive who brings a wealth of Human Resource Disciplines in Human Capital Management.
Ron began his career in the Transportation industry with United Parcel Service, Inc managing the Reload and Preload employees and overseeing the Next Day Air and Hazardous Material packages. He has received a Bachelors of Arts from Mercyhurst College in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources Management and is an active member of the Society of Human Resource Managers where he attained his Professional Human Resources (PHR) Certification, Colorado Human Resource Association and Society of Hispanic Human Resource Professionals.
Ron has gained tremendous experience in the Private and Public sectors of Human Resources which eventually led to him holding positions as Assoc. Vice-President/Human Resources Greater Erie Community Action Committee and Human Resources Director at the Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School. In these positions he supervised and overseen several departments including Worker’s Compensation, Personnel Management and Employee/Employer Relations.
Ron has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shiloh Baptist Church and is involved with non-profit organizations such as the YMCA, United Way and Boys & Girls Club of America.
